Study Permit Extension 2024

Yeah I got emails on March 1st and 4th. Both said “We updated your application status”. But when I logged in on the 1st I couldn’t see any changes except possibly for background check which says - “we are processing your background check.”

On the 4th the email was to let me know eligibility had started (eligibility changed from - we will send you an email when we start reviewing your eligibility to “we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements”.)

Then I noticed my date of biometrics enrollment/expiry had also been added to my profile (I had them from a previous application).

Have you received any emails since you applied? And what does it say under details about your application status? Has background check or eligibility started?

Mine is a bit more complicated. I applied for study permit extension jointly with an initial sowp(spouse is in home country, so it was her initial application) I know we don't stand a very good chance especially with the recent announcement since I'm doing a diploma. But I chose to take the chance anyway. So, she took biometrics on 16th feb. It updated on portal in 17th feb. My study extension, I got one ghost update and that was it. Since then, no new updates or anything. No ghost updates, no emails, nothing still on background check.

Please how long did it take for them to send you your correspondence letter and did you receive an email as well ?

Study permit extensions often take up to 6 months. You are able to continue studying on implied status. It is best to apply around 6 months before your study permit expires for a study permit extension.

I was doing SP extension+Sowp+visitor record for kid. So I had to show a bit much. 50k.
