Study Permit Expired soon

Hi,
I hope somebody can help me...
I just graduated on June 9th and I applied for PGWP on June 11. How can I check my application status? My Study permit will be expired on July 31st. Can I stay legally in Canada while waiting for my PGWP after my study permit is expired? What should I do?
