Hi all,

I am an international student in the US and I also hold a multiple entry visitor visa to Canada. I recently applied for a study permit that was refused, I followed up immediately and applied for another one with all the additional information that they required in my initial application.

2nd Permit Application Date : 29th January 2017.

Since I've finished my studies in the US, I have to depart by the 16th of Feb 2017.

Is there any way I can request for an expedited decision or enter Canada with my visitor visa and wait for the study permit decision??

If you have visitor's to Canada, you can come as a visitor. The only problem is that you should be able to convince the immigration offer that you will leave at the end of your visit (since you have recently been refused). Also, if I were you and my US status expires in February, I will apply for US visa while in Canada. Anyway, when are you graduating in the US - I guess you can stay till graduation in MAY?

Hi,

I have already Graduated. I'm on my grace period. Yes, I can apply for a tourist visa from within Canada. But i'm concerned it will all seem very sketchy to the Border Agent.

Yes, if I were you I will wait for some time like two weeks to see if they approve your study permit. Also depending on your nationality, entry to Canada amid recent permit refusal and pending new application can be hard. No one here can assure you of that. The question is, why were you refused study permit? Board agents will check that, if it's anything other than not returning/inadmissibility issue, then you will be ok.
