My friend's study permit was approved after a year-long process, she was sent a letter of introduction and had her passport stamped. However, her accommodation plans fell through, so we obtained a deferral from the school to start in January 2025 instead of September 2024. Also, Her medical exam (IME) expires in September and she will go through the process to have it updated. So we have the following questions about her travel to Canada:
Regards!
- Can she enter Canada with her current letter of introduction (valid until September 2025), existing passport stamp, new letter of acceptance (LOA), and an updated IME?
- Do we need to notify Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and wait for a response before travel?
- Or should we notify IRCC but plan travel regardless, since the border agent has the final say?
Regards!
