I applied for my study permit on the 3rd of February 2017 for an undergraduate engineering program in Memorial University of Newfoundland for the Fall 2017 intake. When I was submitting my documents, I lacked the hard copy for the university's acceptance letter. I contacted Memorial admissions and they clarified that they're now emailing admission letters instead of mailing and they had emailed me on January (they did). So, I proceeded with my submission (with the printed emails) and just recently, the hard copy of the acceptance letter from the engineering faculty arrived at my home.
My question is:
1. Why is my visa processing for 3 months
2. Will my visa be rejected?

I am applying from Malaysia
VFS is at Singapore
My academic scores are:
IELTS: Band 8
Grade 12 average: 91%

(P.S. the reason for my early application was because my IELTS results will be 1 year in age on March 2017, I failed an application on 2016)

Please help, any comment would be appreciated
Usually decisions for Fall intake are made from May Onwards... So I think you applied a tad bit earlier... But it's a good thing... Be rest assured... U will get a decision soon... And I think your profile is awesome.

I applied for a study permit on 23rd February online from CIC website for a PhD program at the University of Waterloo for May 2017 intake. My application is still in progress. There has been no update on my application. When I inquired about it, they said due to exceptionally high volumes of applications, processing times are longer than usual. By the way, my application is being processed at the High Commission of Canada Office in New Delhi, India. They are way too slow. I had to send a dozen of emails to get a reply from them. I will ask the University in the next week for deferral of my admission term.

Perhaps February isn't our lucky time. Good luck to both of us for our future.

I have the same condition applied for fall visa but on Feb 15th. My application went to singapore for processing so i mailed them why the delay, they told me since I'm a Fall semester visa they will start processing from March 23rd and it did. My medical was requested on 24th April, done on 25th and passed on 29th so don't worry your time will come!! If you want email them and ask why is it being delayed. Hope it helps :)

Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it. I emailed them and they told me the same thing. I guess my only option is to wait.

Are you Malaysian? I am trying to find out if the same timeline applies for Malaysians. I applied on 20th April, got my medical passed on 24th April and no news since then. I applied online. Visa office is Singapore.

My visa office is singapore too, I guess they are a bit slow in processing especially after medical :(
