Hi,

I submit my application on June 19, and still waiting. The CIC website does not have an updated average processing time for study permit at Los Angeles as of today. Is there anyone who submit application to Los Angeles office as well? How long till you receive your visa?

Thanks a lot!

Hi there!

I have submitted my application about the same time.
I am still waiting for their reply too. I've been waiting and waiting!! And not knowing what is happening, it's driving me crazy!

UPS confirmed that the Canadian Consulate in LA has received my package on June 12th.

On CIC site, the normal processing time is 5 wks. It's way past that. What is happening?
Should I take some action? But I don't even know what options I have.

I'm kind of relieved to hear someone else is waiting like I am.

Thank you.

Wow feel so relieved too! Thanks for your reply.

The CIC website uses the data with a last updated date of April 23, that was where the 5 week average from. I have been checking the page daily but not any update...

I know the LA office does not pick up any calls. Maybe we could fax them an inquiry, not sure they will reply.

I will check back here every other day as well, please kindly post any update! I will definitely do the same ;)

I had a similar issue as on my CIC page I was told my application was sent to Detroit... after months of waiting (applied in April) I sent email after email.. and finally they told me that Detroit never received my application... and that it was sent to New York. New York did not respond to any of my emails so when I entered Canada in Sarnia Ontario (driving over the border) I explained the situation and they asked why I dont just apply here at the border (not realizing I could do that). So after an hour and a half (I had to show them all my documentation, proof of funds... etc..) I had my student permit. Easy! :) and a HUGE weight off my shoulder!

Good for you! Congratulations!

By the way how did you get your original documents (including passport) back from the visa office? I would think you would need to present them to the border officer, is that right?

I did have to present my info at the border. When I applied online, I had to make copies of all my documentation so I had all my originals with me. I guess I did not take into account you may not be an American citizen.

Finally!! Got my letter of instruction dated Aug 8th. :D :D :D

7 weeks and 2 days, hopefully this information would help!

By the way the officer retained my original letter of acceptance from my university. Do I have to present originals to the border or copies would be fine?

Hi Guys,

I submitted my student permit application in Los Angeles,it was successfully delivered and received in LA on March 11, 2013, together with my dependents (wife for open work permit and daugther for open study permit). We already have our Temporay Resident Visas so when I got accepted in the college I applied it right away in LA. Right now I'm still waiting for our permits, I'm here in Canada for vacation but my school will start on May 8, 2013. Its really hard to wait and you don't know what will happen next, is there anyone here who can assist or give advise? thank you very much guys. goodluck and all the best to all of us :)
