Unless you have been accepted to start studying now in May, you are quoting old rules.

New rules take effect June 1st.

No.

Research minimum wage for the province you want to go to.

Also, please read my signature line at the bottom of my post, before you address me with a gender.

Ok

This is how it works....Students in Canada (after June 1, 2014) will be allowed to work a MAXIMUM of 20 hrs/week during the school terms and a MAXIMUM of 40 hrs/week during school breaks (Two week break in Dec, 4 months during the summer). Anything over those hours (or cash jobs) violates the terms of your SP and you will become deportable from Canada if caught. It is very hard to land jobs in Canada and for someone with no canadian work exp and education, you will land a job that pays between 11-13 dollars/hr. So during the school terms you will be taking home (after taxes) around 800-900 CAD/month. Twice that amount during the summer. If you do simple math, you will realize that that is barely enough to pay your living expenses. You will still need monies for fees. And this assumes you will find a job, which is not a given.
Don't let a consultant or anyone else tell you that it is possible to earn enough money to pay for fees and living expenses-because it is not true.

Where does it say that you can only work 40 hours per week during scheduled breaks?

Study permits will automatically authorize the holder to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during scheduled breaks

Full-time doesn't mean 40 hours per week. Full-time means you can work as much as you like, you can even work 2 jobs or even 3 if you can.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've never seen CIC say that it's a maximum 40 hrs.

They say full time (35-40 hr/week). That does not mean overtime.
Besides if in summer you can find another two or three part time works to make it 40+ hours it does not mean you will find them for two weeks during winter and spring breaks.

And concerning "new rules" DO NOT ASSUME it will come into force as promised by CIC. It is CIC and they change mind in a wink. :D

I don't assume anything, but it does not say on CIC that it is maximum 40 hrs a week.

As for what happens june 1st, I don't care either way. My OCWP application is in.

I stand corrected, it says Full Time which generally means 35-40 hours per week. However there is no limit specified so you can work 100+ hours a week if you want to. However, remember if you are working over 40 hours a week or multiple jobs which total over 40 hours, the tax man will get an even bigger chunk of your money. It may not be worth it to work 100 hours a week :)
