I am from India, looking for business study in CANADA.

I have completed my MBA from the UK in 2011 then after I was there for 2 years on Post-Study work visa. After completion of PSW visa I came back to India and doing a job here. Now I have the interest to study in Canada for better knowledge.

I am married now, currently working as sales manager. I have the gap of more than 5 years now for further study in Canada. Will this gap make any problem to get a visa? because I have read the Canadian immigration website and there clearly mentioned that no more than 5 years gap is acceptable for a student visa.

Please guide me how I can apply for the study or what are the chances to get study visa?

Thank you.

Firstly,The way you've phrased your query/Question makes me doubt the validity of your MBA from UK.

With respect to your question, I personally have heard of any rule which restricts applicants with a study gap of more than 5 years. However, If your current employment position is lower than what you should have. You might have to do some explaini in your SOP.

Otherwise, You're good to go.

No it is very difficult. You can try for Phd program in management. Better option is to go with a express entry visa.

Do not go for PG diploma or something from a college.

Go for a second master's program in line with your qualification and career path.

It's only called a "Study Gap" if you were sitting at home swotting flies.

Having relevant work-ex is not "Study Gap"

Make sure you explain how it's going to benefit you in the progression of your career

Speaking from personal experience. I'm going for a master's program after a 5 years "Study Gap"

Thank you for your reply,

Well, I have valid UK MBA Degree and the college where I had studied still in the list of Sponsored colleges.

I just worried because I asked so many student visa counselors and all say you have fewer chances to get visa as you have study gap more than 5 years

I am currently working as Operational Manager. I don't think so that would be the lower position as per my Degree.

Once again thank you for your reply..

I'm going for a master's in software engineering after having had 5 years of work experience in the same field.

I got admits from Concordia, Dalhousie, Western and UOttawa. And I'd be attending Concordia University.

Yeah I got the visa :D

As I said, go for a master's in management program with some specialization you can justify is an upgrade for you, or go for another MBA with some specialization. I can't give you specific advice since I do not belong to your field.

Don't be deterred by negative comments on the internet! Give it your best shot

And go for good universities, nothing under the top 30 universities of Canada at all. No TRU, VIU, RRU, types
