Hey all,

I'm an Australian citizen, been in Canada for around 1 1/2 years on a working visa.
Since I've been here I've decided to take up photojournalism as a hobby/hopefully make a bit of money, and I would like to get taught properly rather than just winging it.
i know work and study visas are completely separate things, but I was wondering if there is different level of attending "school", where I am allowed to take.
Am I allowed to study through a private tutor? Online courses? Or a course at a facility not really recognized as studying by the Canadian government (if that makes any sense).

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated :) cheers

You can take classes without a study permit provided your schooling is six months of full time schooling or less.

Hello, thanks for the reply! I was wondering if there was information online about this? I seem to be going in circles and getting no where on what I can and cant do with my work visa, called a few places and they all told me "once I have my permit, I am beyond their information" basically. thanks again!

As the other guy said, as long as it's less than six months you can do it. If there are no restrictions written on your current work visa prohibiting you from taking ANY form of study, then you should be able to take something up. Of course given it doesn't clash with your working hours too. Bear in mind you'll be paying international student prices!
