12th CBSE: 92.75%
TOEFL iBT: 115/120
I just got accepted by University of Alberta(yesterday) for Electrical Engineering with Nanotechnology Specialisation under-grad and I'll be applying for the Visa from VFS Mumbai. However, I read that after the pre-medical test, visa application should be made a week later only? Is that absolutely necessary, won't that delay the process? Anyway I had no idea Canadian visa was so complicated, I was actually concentrating on UK, where my brother lives, and their student visa applications are hassle free. Also, the GIC process(!!), from what I gathered, the GIC plus tuition fees receipt is what is needed right?

Yes Shivank17 you can take GIC pay your first semester tuition fees also you should show finance as to how you are going to fund your rest of your studies.

other reasons:
your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of your qualification,previous studies,employment,level of establishment,other educational opportunities available in India or canada
language abilities,or your future plans
profile of the applicant:
10- 75%
12- 80%
ug- b.tech biotechnology- CGPA- 7.2 upon 10
applied course and college- pg diploma in advanced biotechnology-industrial microbiology, fast track, 2 year course, centennial college

under spp category,paper based. applied on june 23, got reply on 7th of july. and sop submitted.

i think under spp , result comes within a week as some of students got their visa even before a week. why it took 2 weeks for your friends result.
do you have any idea about how much time it usually takes if its rejection or acceptance of visa?

no.. actually, now its a busy time so it takes around 10 working days... because 2 of my other friends got it after 15 working days and their visa was approved (spp)... i will be applying on monday under spp.. am not sure how long it takes if its rejection or acceptance of visa.

it takes abt 10 to 15 working days min or a max of 30 to 40 working days preethy.. have u applied for ur visa?

havent applied for visa yet... waiting for the GIC certificate... my bank transferred money on 7th july... will it be too late when i get GIC, aplly for visa and then make plans abt flying?

Apply at the earliest . Keep all other papers ready. GIC people are big time idiots , they delay things so much ..Keep calling them . It will take 5 working days for them issue your GIC. Delaying things is not good , but make sure you get everything ready .

I am planning to apply online for visa in a couple of days ...while doing so , is there somewhere we can mention if we are applying under uni category or general category ??

Here is my profile.

We were a permanent resident in Singapore until 2012.
Completed my O level in Singapore (10th Standard) - All A grades (We were PR in Singapore. But due to my Father's parent were aged and sick had to give it up and move back to India)
Completed my +12 CBSE system in India - 87%
Got admission at university of Windsor for UG in Mechanical Engineering with Aero space option
English test Waived by university. But still completed my TOEFL 109/120
Submitted all documents (paper based) through VFS Global, Chennai on 23-Jun-2014.
Paid 1st Year Fee
Paid C$10000/- for GIC investment Bond
Financial proof shown for 4 year fees and stay.
Two weeks over today. Waiting for my visa.

Hi all,
Here is a good news. Just got a mail from CIC Delhi that my study permit is approved. Feeling exited.
But VFS Global site still shows :
Visa application, tracking ID No.____ is being processed at the Canada Visa Office, NEW DELHI.To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website.
I think CIC Delhi will dispatch my passport today to Chennai.
