Student work permit question

I have been studying in canada since january, the website says I need 6 months as a student, I took summer off so I dont know if I can apply

When it says 6 months, it means 6 months studying. It doesn't include breaks such as reading week or semester breaks. So if you took the semester off, you'll have to wait 4 - 5 months more, until you complete 6 months of ongoing college program.

you can not, you need to complete 6 months as full time students. every offical breaks count as Full time study> BUt if you take this break by yourself, just wait till you complete 2 more months of study..
