Student Visa Online Application

Hello!

I am an international student and I have accepted the offer to study at UBC Vancouver this fall.

However, I feel rather anxious about my student visa, as I have submitted an online application about 3-4 weeks ago, but I still have not received a response from the CIC website regarding whether or not I will be needing a medical examination and/or a custodian since I'm 18 this year, as well as a letter of introduction that I will need to obtain my student visa.

Based on other international students experience, may I know how long does it take for an online student visa application to be processed approximately? This information would be very helpful for me to plan things accordingly before my arrival in Canada.

Also, I am kind of scared that I won't be able to get my visa application approved before August since there is this optional yet important orientation program on the 13th of that month. Any advice/suggestion to share?

One last thing, do you think that I will definitely need a custodian since I'm 18 this year and I'm going to study in Vancouver?

To My Knowledge Students who have submitted online application and paid their Fees online through credit card got a very Quick response as compare to Paper based Application...

Wait for 30 days, u may Get a Response ( Personal Suggestion )

Further more you can read the post , some students have applied online , also you can check the Spreadsheet for average no Of Days for Online and Paper base Applications.

from what country are you? there are other online applications who are still waiting for 90 days and no approval yet, 60 days of no medical request etc. So be patient although it is hard to wait.

I applied from Seoul, South Korea.

So your file is also in Manila. I applied last March 14 up to now no news regarding my visa. But i have done my medicals already. We have forum mates that applied online last April 9 but no medical request whatsoever the other one is April 19 but all paper based have their result already even the one who applied May 24.

In my conclusion, paper based is faster than online application here in Manila.

I got my medical request 2 days ago, and I successfully finished my medical check yesterday. Since I also applied online, does that mean that they will request for my passport?
And does this mean that I have to send my original passport to my visa office?
And do you think that I will get everything processed before August 10th, since I have a mandatory orientation on August 13th that I've already paid?

Yes they will request passport unless you are from visa exempt country like USA etc

And does this mean that I have to send my original passport to my visa office?
yes , you do.
And do you think that I will get everything processed before August 10th, since I have a mandatory orientation on August 13th that I've already paid?
If you have CHC in your country, and you are lucky enough you might be able to join orientation. But I doubt this as I listen the people are going for strike and it will affect processing time.
