Student Visa - Issue with College Timelines - Inability to reach in time

I have my relative coming to Canada on study visa, everything was set but today he received letter from embassy that Passport is damaged and send a new issue passport for stamping,
Issues are -
He has intake on August 29th and course starting Sept 7th.
Passport Seva kendra appointments earliest one available for Tatkal is Sept 5th
Does not seem to meet the deadlines. Course undertaken from College has only Sept intake which means an year loss is at the verge.
Has anybody had this kind of situation or know how to deal with this stressful situation, or what options we have?
Can college provide some lead time to join if facts are produced befreo them?

Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated.

When will relative get new passport? Talk to the school on the last date your relative must show up for the semester.

thanks for replying , there is no confirmation when he will get new passport as it is dependent on Passport appointment and why on last date, shall we not start now as we know for a fact we will not be able to make it .

You have to ask the school about deferring.

You can’t defer for a month. You defer a year. You have to ask the school the last day a student can come to classes to complete a semester. Dropping courses are usually 2-3 weeks into a semester. If you miss too many classes, you will fail.

Hmm. Ask your college if there is online class. Take some classes while waiting for your new passport. By that, you dont need to defer. Hope this help

Hi, just wanted to know , Intake date for the course is Aug 29th and start day Sept 6, what would be called the last date to join? would college tell this in their offer letter or if contact them would they tell.

Start date when classes begin. If you don’t show up, you need to find out the drop out date for not starting and/or failing a course.

Thanks, and College should be able to tell that, right, if I go to their International Student center.

sorry to bother you again, I did go to the College to check, they said he can do registration online and for every program cutoff date is 2 weeks from program start, the only thing I forgot to ask is if he registers online and things does not fall right , can he be able to defer? since he has completed registartion online, pls suggest.
