Hi Friends,

My Wife is applying for student visa for a bachelor course in Canada for 2 years. I will be accompanying her on dependent visa. However, I am HIV Positive.

I am taking ART (ZLN tablets) for past 2 years. At present, my CD4 count is 816 and viral load in undectable. Can somebody tell as to what are the possibilities of visa approval for Canada.

Hi, yes, it is possible for an HIV positive person to get a visa but the process can be challenging, and you will have to prove to the VO that you will not pose excessive demand on the Canadian health system.

Here's a thread from the other board that I think will be useful to you: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/need-urgent-helpcan-hiv-positive-person-get-pr-t124057.0.html
(One of the posters there - computergeek - provides very useful information on people with HIV who wish to get a visa)

Good luck!!

Hi Dear,

Thank you so much for your response.

Currently, as per the Canadian Immigration Excessive demands clause caps at $5143.00 per year. The cost of my ART will be approximately around $1778.00 per year.

Besides that the health pretty good right now.

Have you calculated the $1778 based on the costs of ART in your home country or based on the costs of ART in Canada? (You need to calculate based on the costs of this drug in Canada.) Also note that the excessive demand cap is now around $6,500. It sounds like you are looking at out-of-date information.

Hi scylla,

Thank you so much for updating me with latest limit.

I have evaluated the cost of the ART medicine as per the Pharmacy checker website(cost as per Canadian dollars).

Let me know your inputs.

Regards,
