Hi friends,
My boyfriend is currently a student in Canada. He got his student visa in August 2018. We've been in a relationship for year and a half. We are planning on getting married this December. Can you tell me as an international student am I, as his wife, eligible for coming to Canada to work there while he studies? If so, if we get married this December does he have to change his martial status since when he got his visa he put his status as single? How long does he have to wait until they change his status and can he travel to Canada while the change is in process? What kind of documentation is required for me and for him and what is the wait time for my vise to be approved?
Thank you in advance
Hi, Marta. From your msg I understood that your bf is currently in Canada, and has a valid student visa. I am wondering why would he now need to declare or change his status if he is not in the middle of another process e.g. applying for a PR or such??
You may of course apply for an open work permit or with your permission your husband or a representative may do it on your behalf. If you are eligible or not will be for the visa officials to decide. There are countless threads about attachments to include and you will surely find one for your area. And for possible reasons of refusal. And if not, there is always the CIC helpline for instance which you may contact after gathering and reading the info available on their website.Your bf's status will get updated into the system once you apply for the OWP since you will need to enter his information in your application anyway.
Sorry that I can't assist you more. We haven't received our decision yet but as we were also recently married (1year earlier), we also included proof of living history for the past 2 years. We also included good letters of intent, a month to month plan of what my husband intends to do while in the country as well as reasons for returning back to our country afterwards (unfortunately we don't have property here but we have some personal reasons that I hope are enough).
Look to multiple threads. Hoping you will find the answers you are looking for.
