Hi,No mate I’m not kidding, I’m already here. 1st day of classes last monday. Durham College, Oshawa campus.
HiHello Shreya,
well, there are mix reviews you will find in this forum, even in outside real world. I do also have nearly 7 years of gap and I researched a lot to get information about whether I am eligible to apply for study visa or not. But really got mixed reviews.
I strongly recommend you to please listen to your inner voice if it says yes then please go for it. There are many cases I have read on this forum who got their visa after nearly 8-10 years gap and many also not got a visa even without any gap.
I am applying for student visa JAN 2018, gathering documents and arranging finance. Please keep in touch I will really help you to share much information which probably I haven't got easily.
Visa depends on mainly Three criteria.
1) your actual intention to study further after such a long period.
2) is your future study linking with your past experience or not?
3) prove that you will come back at the end of the study permit (just for visa officer)
Wishing you best of luck for your decision.
Congrats for your success. And i also gave a "like" as requested.I got approved for a study permit with 14+ years "gap" after my B.Com.
Thank you. Cherry picked list of recommendations.Hi !! Im 37 yrs old and also planning to apply after 7yrs study gap. But i have been contionusly working since the last academic qualification and even after the completion of school. I did a brief research on the issue and this is what I hav learnt.
1. As others mentioned earlier- The purpose has to be solid in SOP. eventhough our main aim is to settle permanently in Canada we have to convince the VO that u r a genuine student and return to ur country..that includes
1.1 u have to highlight ur career progression up to now from what u have learned.Show them that u r well off at the moment with the current job and u r planning to step in to studies to move up the ladder.
1.2 why do u want to study the spesific program and how its going to help u to achieve ur career aspirations. what would be the final outcome. what r the demand for that job in ur home country. what r the additional qualifications or skills that u r going obtain and how it will help u in future.
1.3 Since we r being taught in English, we have to show them the best IELTS score. Eventhough the college accept with lesser gradings the VO might feel that u might struggle to follow the course. 5 to 7 years study gap means that u must have been woking in somewhere and obviously we might have been using the English language for office communications & emails though we speak in different native languages. As such VO might look for higher gradings.
2. highlight why u hav chosen Canada and the specific program.
3. Strong home ties like properties under ur name or family. That will prove that u have achieved aomething and u r planning for the next 5-10 yrs. If u hav not achieved an accumilated wealth so far having worked for 5-7 years VO might think what good would happen after anotger academic qualification .(this ia specially for old folks with work exp not for the ones just after school)
Hi....have you applied for Visa? What is your current status. I too have 13 years experience and trying to apply. Could you please share your experienceHi
I'm 38, have 13 years of job experience and 13 years of gap. I'm married and have 2 kids. last year I have applied for Canada immigration through Self-employed stream but I got rejected. Now I have an admission from SFU in BC in a Master program related to my B.A. I'm so afraid of getting rejected once again.
Can someone please tell me, is it possible to get rejected because of age, gap and a rejection history?
Hi, unfortunately I have not applied yet, cause from my country(Iran) all visas are a bit more risky that other countries....I will let you know when I apply. and please you share your status with me if possible, here is my mail:Hi....have you applied for Visa? What is your current status. I too have 13 years experience and trying to apply. Could you please share your experience
Could you please share your profile and to which course have you applied?Hi, I have 17 years gap from my last studies. Am trying to justify why I am studying again after a long time after being rejected twice. Please advise, thanks.
I worked as a content writer and editor for 17 years. I originally wanted to apply for Creative Advertising at Seneca College, but now shifted to Business Marketing after 2 refusals.Could you please share your profile and to which course have you applied?
So here is the problem, after working for 17 years you should apply to master program in University. There is a very high chance that with diploma program the visa will get rejected.I worked as a content writer and editor for 17 years.
