Student spouse visa

I've got student visa for Lambton college. I'd like to bring my wife along with me. My agent is suggesting to take a separate visit visa for her(not on the grounds of my visa but with the support of my cousin who is a citizen of Canada). Later change it to OWP once in Canada. Is there any visa refusal chances? Please advise?

I heard there is no difference between issuing owp later or applying together. For me I have applied together.
Is there any chance of I'm approved and my family will be refused ?

What I heard from my agent was, if we apply together, rejection chances are more for spouse owp. I'm not sure about it.
