Student Permit - Common Law Partner

Good evening everybody!
I'm going to start my PhD the first week of September 2015 (4 years Phd), I have already my Offer of Admission Letter, I'm an italian citizen. I'm doing my study permit application along with my boyfriend who is italian too.

We are Common Law partner so a family member, -we lived together for more than one year, we have a bank account together, we have medical documents that proves that we were living together also we we moved out in another city we did this together, we went to my brother's marriage -we have residence registered in the same place-.

They told me that he can ask for a open work permit.

I don't understand why going through the application on line, it ask me for a proof he is going to leave Canada. If his work permit is going to be as long as I am in Canada, why he has to prove that is going to leave? Like he is going to be there just to visit.
Purpose of Travel -Like a flight back, or the hotel where is going to stay- ?

As far as the study permit application is concerned, all students applying fr a study permit also have to prove they will leave the country after their studies. I have seen a lot of refusal just because some students don't satisfy this requirement (kinda of a dum ass requirement,but we need to satisfy tht fr the CIC officer).

In ur case same thing applies ur partner, he has to leave or stay with u completely based on ur status.

U have to prove this by, job prospects available back home for your partner after getting some Canadian experience. And also firmly state that the only reason, ur partner wnts to come to Canada is to support u in ur studies and to be with u

Dennia is right, both of you will have Temporary Status in Canada as a Student & Worker if he wants to apply for OWP, you need to prove to CIC that both of you will be coming back after studies.

My phd is gonna last 4 years... it's hard to book a flight in 4 years.
A immigrant advisor of my University told me to write a letter explaining this... It's gonna be ok? I'll write that he's gonna stay with me and we are going to leave at the end of my phd.

I have some further question: for my request I need to upload a Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union, do I need to go to a notary to validate this declatation? An italian notary is allowed to do that? I've already asked... They told me that I have first to translate it in italian... Yeah, to translate again in english. This is crazy! What should I do?

I wrote a letter in english which explains the proof that I include in the domand (Bills, bank account...) do I need to validate also the letter?

The family information form that I have to include with, is my boyfriend's one? Is included in the documents related to him, with his passport and photo.


Do I need to write my details and the one of my partner in the form called: Use of family member representative for On line application IMM5713? The signature that I have to include are only the one of my partner and mine?

We did not supply any tickets whether one way or round trip with our application, you can prove that you will leave at the end of your studies by showing ties to your country like family, job, properties etc.

Yes, you need to have the declaration notarized, not sure why it should be translated to Italian then to English, when it's already in English which is what is required.

Each of you has to fill out your own family information form.

Yes, you as the student or primary applicant will be the representative, both of you will sign the form though.

We have already bought the tiket for the plane. I saw on the website that for the work permit for which my partner is applying for it might takes two month- for student permit 3 weeks-.

We sent the application the 20th of june and we have the plane the 20 of August.

What if his application takes longer?
We have to show the paper at immigration once we are landed right?
He is suppose to come back home and take the paper and re-enter the country. But he has to re-enter from Italy or another Country could be fine?
My cousin is living in Detroit, what if he leaves Canada e reenter with the open work permit from United States?
