Student permit application

I am currently waiting on an offer to study a PhD in Alberta. I'm British so I'll need to get a student permit. I have a couple of questions regarding the student permit application (to prepare for when my offer comes eventually) if anyone would help, it'd be much appreciated.

For the financial support, I will get a stipend from the university and a teaching assistant post. But my stipend alone won't cover both tuition fee and living costs. My supervisor will write a letter to say I will get a stipend and teaching assistant money etc. But would the teaching assistant money be considered in the application? My parents will also write a letter with their savings account stating that they will help if necessary. Would that be enough for the prove of finance?

I have read that some people have attached a police certificate with their application but I didn't find any requirements of doing so for student permits on canada.ca (it said it's only for permanent residence applications). Should I get a police certificate anyway (I heard it's quite easy) or is that just not needed at all?

Thank you for anyone who can help, with as much details as possible would be extremely helpful!

Finances- You will have to prove that you are able to study in Canada without working, that's the general rule.
PCC- Students do not need a PCC at this time.
Thank you for the reply! I thought teaching assistant as a PhD student were different from working? But anyway fair enough. I don't have that much money in my account so would a letter from my parents attaching their savings accounts be sufficient for the application?

For when I applied, I had no finances of my own. However i did get a letter from my-laws that stated they would be supporting me, along with a few of their financial documents (bank account balances and proof of employment) and my application went smoothly with no issues.

I dont see why they would refuse you considering you can prove you will make money here, and that your parents are willing to support you as well.

Good luck!

Letter from parents with account statement of 3 months or so should be fine. Police clearance not required.

Check the paper based country specific application requirements for any additional reqs. Even if you apply online check the paper requirements, they are better explained in there.
