Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Holla Amigos. Hope some of you have a bit of information that during summers, am I allowed to work full-time if I just have a study permit. If I gain the work permit, I am restricted to work for not more than 20 hours. however when the semester is off, can I work for more than 20 hours? Or when I am on co-op, is it allowed? Or is there a special work permit for that? I am undergrad engineering student in U of Alberta by the way.

You need to get a student work permit anyways, with that your are allowed to :

1) Work 20 hours a week when studies are in session

2) Work full time during the holidays.

3) Co-Op is simply the same work permit but school gives special permission to work full time DURING when the school is in session.

So basically its the same thing.

Co-op work permit is not the same work permit (off campus work permit)

it is a different work permit that needs to be applied after getting a letter from your department

Thanks guys you are awesome. Two more questions, I have to apply to cpp in Ottawa right? And tell me how long does it take on average to get the permit?

And, you can have both Co-Op and OCWP at the same time. Your Co-Op work permit can't be more than 50 percent of your course duration.

no you apply to CIC-Vegreville (atleast I applied there) and you will need to do a paper application....I guess you will need to fill change in conditions and mention the reason as Co-op a part of the academic curriculum...when I applied for the work permit it took me about 1.5 months to get it...

Your co-op placement cannot be more than 50 percent of your course duration but the work permit you will get will be until the expiry of your study permit.
