Your case reminds me one guy got his rejection decision after 3 months, actually through the notes his decision was made within 6 days, but he was notified nearly 3 months.
Such a brutal treatment, pathetic. I mean how can they not fix this. Horrible.....

I agree the bots and humans case though. But writing full reason for a rejection on every app is such a waste of time. Maybe thats where they are spending time :)
Each file goes into a case management system. Background, security & info sharing gets automatically processed by system and record created in the CMS. Review of paperwork, accuracy of forms are done by junior officers(which can be outsourced to other VO based on workload) which is also termed as secondary office. Technically, the job of primary VO is to read through the application and make a decisions if he/she is worthy of coming to Canada and enter summary comments in both acceptance or rejection. Its just a matter of structure which they seem to be lacking at the moment.

Hey, everyone!

I'm in a group with many Brazilians like me who have applied for a Canadian study permit under the Student Direct Stream (Brazil has recently been included in the list of SDS-designated countries). My application was sent this week, but there are people who have been waiting for a decision for over 50 - 60 days (8 to 9 weeks). The last couple of people from the group who managed to get their visas under the SDS applied on July 31st and September 1st, and were approved in exactly 10 days.

This really sucks because, as I recall, SDS applications used to take no more than 20 calendar days to be processed by IRCC. I hear this is related to the situation in Afghanistan, but does anyone know what exactly is going on and/or how much longer this delay should go for? I suppose applicants from other countries are experiencing this as well, so how is the processing time for you?
Hi there!

Did you receive any answers from IRCC? My application has been sent today and I'm trying to find out what to expect :p

Also, how do I get into this group? Is it public?

My first SDS application decision was done within 4 days of application(I received rejection after 1.5 months) I came to know the details after I received GCMS notes. The opening comments read. ''Applicant wishes to do undergraduate/postgraduate/graduate certificate/masters'' even the rest of the sentence seemed like it was a template. They waited for 1.5 months to release this information(so much time wasted).

Hence, I wouldn't entirely dismiss the notion of applications being screened by bots.
If for the sake of argument we consider a machine is involved in processing then a machine cannot come up with a wrong program level since the program is mentioned in the imm1294 form which is machine-readable. Such an error, if you may want to call it, is because the VO didn't care enough to go through your application and gave a refusal. I have found this GCMS notes overrated, they usually don't give much insight about the refusal. Its a formality for them to put something there and many of such decisions have been challenged in the federal court, but of course, not everyone takes that route so VOs take the freedom to do what they like.

I haven't received a decision yet, but my medical and eligibility statuses were updated during the past week. I would say that since you submitted your application today through the SDS you will probably get a decision by mid-January.

About the group, yes, it's public! Se você fala português, me manda uma mensagem que te passo o link :)

I'm afraid I don't have very good news for you...

SDS applications are currently being processed in 60 days on average, so it's unlikely that you will receive your decision in time to make all your travel preparations and start your studies in January (unless you are already in Canada and traveling doesn't apply to you; or unless IRCC are able to clear a crazy amount of backlog they have in their hands this month).

The approval rates also don't look too good right now. Many people are having their study permits refused "due to purpose of visit", which is in most cases a justification for lazy case analysis. Still, I'm confident that the winds will change in our favour :)

Would look at deferring if you don’t have answer by mid December. Processing is averaging 14 weeks for SDS and non SDS…doesn’t seem to matter.

thanks for the swift response.
do you think the floating factor helps us better chances of getting the visa approval ? i mean i heard people going for September intake most and for the rest 2 intakes the count goes down, is that true ?
i am 32 and i am testing my luck, i picked vancouver community collage, i am Graduate in Information Technology and i have approx 9 years of IT Operations experience. And i choosed Network Technology Administration and Security course at VCC.
What chances do i have ?
i am asking this out of curiosity and self assessment.

Thanks.

Hi Pedro, I'm also Brazilian! I applied for my SDS in October and haven't got any news so far! My college begins in January 2022! I'm desperate!
It's simply unbelievable! A process that should take 20 working days to be processed and we have no idea how long it will take!!!!!

Hey, guys! I'm glad to share with you that I received my PPR this week! My first application (non-SDS) was refused due to purpose of visit and these were notes the officer left on my file:
- Spouse accompanying on C42
- PA has no complete previous studies
- Explanation as to why PA would like to take program is general
- Limited travel history
PS: I ordered GCMS Notes both from CBSA and IRCC on August 9. CBSA delivered them on Aug 27, while IRCC took much longer and delivered them on Sep 29 (there was no new information on IRCC's notes. IRCC's were just more organized than CBSA's).

I reapplied through the SDS using basically the same documents from my previous application (aside from the GIC, IELTS and completing 1 year of tuition paid), and put together a better letter of explanation with the support of a very competent immigration consultant (the consultant reviewed my entire application but I was the one who submitted it). I applied on October 7 and received my passport request on December 7 - in exactly 60 days (timeline details on my signature).
