Another point.

My Lawyer told me that if PNP comes through (IF IF) one can easily change the fed application (already submitted) to PNP. Looks like Buffalo office is good at it.

The advantage of PNP is that the process in CIC is shorter, because they only do check for security and medical docs.. the rest of reqs are waved due to PNP, it also shorters CIC process, ie in Bufalo is taking only 5 months... However since PNP alone is taking 6 months it will all sume up to 1 years which is less than the whole CIC process which is 9 months :))

Ingegarcia...... tell me if you get the PNP how will it push the process a little further....
if you get to that point couldn't you just decide not to go forward with PNP or withdraw the fed App (I Think, Correct me if you are wrong) and go for PNP......in other words whatever seems shorter at the time....

In the website below under Employer Driven Stream Processing Times it says that
Candidate assessments are currently being processed in approximately 40 – 60 working days.
This is not the same process but ......

I totally agree with your thoughts. I did apply through Federal but those applications (submitted after 28th Feb) are on hold at least till 15th August when the minister (supposedly) come up with prioritized categories.

Looks like instead of cleaning the system it is getting more murkier and going in the US way..

On which website you saw that it takes 40-90 working days for pre-assessment?

dnataraj,
What happens after Aug 15, Any idea ....... I agree with changing fed app to PNP if nominated.... Buffalo is very good at that stuff, moreover Buffalo is transferring all files for Alberta to Seattle office (They are fairly Quick) and Ingegarcia is right PNP process is shorter with CIC at the second stage as less documents are required. Other than that comparing Apples to Apples the Alberta PNP route and Fed App route are neck to neck from start to finish......
I am thinking of calling Alberta on Monday.... asking them what is going on, why so long and I am not the only one right, ingegarcia and I am sure there are more people there.

After consultation with different provinces the minister will have a round table conf on Aug 15th to come with immigration priorities.
Following is the link (for their schedule).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2008/2008-07-03a.asp

I guess they will prioritize something like
1. those who are already working in Canada in labor shortage categories.
2. those who are already working in Canada (not in the above list)
3. those who are outside Canada, but fall in labor shortage categories (depending on province)
4. Rest (which they might reject)

This is my guess. If you people have other ideas share.

Kangster, if you are calling on Alberta on Monday share with us what they say. Probably, me and Ingegarcia can call at one weeks interval. When I called them (and emailed them) on Monday this week this is the response I got

The PNP Office is currently assessing your application. They should be
in touch with you shortly to notify you of their decision. If I hear
anything before hand I will email you to let you know.

I couldn't resist so I sent in an email this morning to AINP and I got an email response as follows:

AINP pre-assessments and invitations to apply are taking up to 50 working days to process. Once you have completed all the necessary AINP/CIC forms, you will send your application package back to the AINP Office, whereby they will process your AINP application. Completed AINP applications can take up to 30 - 60 days to process before a positive nomination certificate is issued.

This did not really answer my question as to what is happening with My application.... seems like this is just a generic scripted response they would send to anyone.. Hmmmm I have to call them whats new here is that from 30 days they are now saying 50 working days.... In that case My 50 working days were up on or about July 8, 2008.....

Ingegarcia (We applied at the same time) any day now for us I guess if we take their word for it :)

Hi Ingegarcia,
Yeah I was wondering this too, why they did not reply to you since Monday and they replied to me right away. So Use this email instead the one I used
immigration.info @ gov.ab.ca
Hope this helps!

When you attend, if possible ask them how long it takes for pre-assessment and PNP nomination exactly. Because they say 30 days the 50 days and so far no one has got any assessment result.

Ok, here is the reply from Alberta.... I think this will take a little longer than expected :)

Your application is still waiting for assessment. Due to a large volume of applications, the current processing time for H1B applications is 3-4 months.
Your patience while we process your application is appreciated.
