Strange Email from CPC Ottawa

Hey everyone i've gotten good advice here before so i'm back to ask about an email i got from ottawa.

"Documents required for a complete application" is how the email starts and it goes on to state the requirements.

Mailing address. Is it the same as stated above?

Has family composition changed? further explanation continues

Proof of Residence... "We wish to ask you at this time to provide additional proof that your sponsor resides in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, banking history, employment letters, lease agreements, etc. Driver's licences, Property tax assessments, Social Insurance or Health Insurance cards are not sufficient."

I am already approved as a sponsor to my wife so i'm confused how they don't know i live in Canada. i'm waking up tomorrow and mailing them all these kinds of things, but how concerned should i be that this is delaying my wives application?

and im assuming they expect me to send all this information to the contact information at bottom of email? nothing in email instructing me where to send it otherwise. (although adress 219 instead of 365 laurier?)

If the "more proof sponsor lives in Canada" email is going to be sent, it's usually sent during the applicant processing part of the process (not the sponsor bit). So from that perspective what you are experiencing is normal. As for why they don't know you're living inside of Canada - I can't answer that. Just send them what they've asked for as soon as you can and there shouldn't be too many delays.

I suppose i should just mail the proof to the contact info they left at bottom of email, would just hate to send it to wrong place.

Hey InLove,

Congrats on the email. A lot of us got that same one today, and it's a great sign of our applications moving closer to DM.

It's a batch email sent by the CIC when they begin looking at the information the sponsored person's PR.

The email doesn't actually specify if you are missing anything. It's a generic form, that they hope you'll read over and realize your mistake if you've missed something. We all have the same one.

Most of us include more information for the intent to return to Canada or proof of residency for the sponsor. My wife has never lived outside of Canada, but we sent a copy of the most recent hydro bill, a copy of her lease, a pay stub, and a letter of employment. Most people suggest two of the things listed in the email. I do, however, recommend you send something for further proof of residency.

As for the other documents, if you included in your original application, just mention each item and that you included initially in the body of the email. (e.g. medical documents were sent in the original application along with police certificates.)

You can reply directly to the email and attach those documents. I recommend PDFs since that's what I always see the CIC ask for formats.

Once you reply to the original email with that information and the attached documents, you'll get an automated email reply back, stating they've received your email.

This is a standard email, nothing to worry about. I got the same email and got a DM about 2 months later.

Just send them any proof you have of Canadian residence. I sent things like my sponsor's employment letter, T4, pay statements, proof our condo purchase, etc. A lot of it I already sent with the original application and resent, which is fine, but try to send some new stuff too if you can.

This can all be emailed in PDF format- no need to send through snail mail. Just make sure the file size is less than 5MB.

Listen to what everyone else has said. They weren't sending this as a standard letter to everyone back when my husband went through the process.

I think we'll scan and email everything we have in an attached PDF file, so as to keep the process moving as quickly as possible.
