My sponsorship application for my spouse was accepted in Mississauga and has been in Damascus for almost 2 months now. I havent heard anything yet from Damascus and so I plan on calling them within the next couple of days. If I call will that delay?? or do i have the right to ask for the whereabouts of my application??

Hello selena. nice to see another person waiting for Damascus :). I'm waiting for my wifes application to be done to it has been 36 days and I haven't heard anything either. how about giveing it some more time. According to the website it takes 3-7 months to process.

CIC Process times : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/05-fc-spouses.asp

Have you checked ECAS to see if they have begun processing the application yet? You can call but they don't have to respond. Here is the link to ECAS.

have you considered sending email to them? we did and it didn't delay our process.

So I should not call then?? If I send them an email, will they get back to me?? My parents and my family are all in Canada and I was born and raised there so waiting here with my husband is so hard...

it's totally up to them to answer your email or not, but at least it will get ti them. when you call the they usually put automatic machine that's just total of wasting money, you might never talk to a person.

Hey there, I went thru Damscus too, they are considered the fastest office to handle Spouse sponsoirship, give it some more time, did you get an AOR from them ? usualy they don't reply to emails before the 6 month period. I don't know about calling them, but usualy there is a machine that answer.
good luck

Ok so I received my AOR about a month ago but when I enter my Immigration File Number it doesnt give me anything.. I dont understand why this happening? What does it mean when the Immigration File number isnt giving me any info, it says there is no number as such....???

there might be some mistake in your name, date of birth or country of birth. have you tried to log-in using client id?

My client ID says it has began processing on October 7th 2009. For the Immigration file number I fill in my husbands info right?? Because I am sponsoring him?? So it might be something I am doing wrong on the ecas??

Have a look at the application processing timeline for Damascus and see what's the avarage wait time. If you are within the timeline, then I guess you shouldn't bother contacting them by any means (email/phone/etc...). Simply wait it out. And if your application is beyond the processing timeline, then you can contact them. (Most visa offices don't reply to telephone inquiries, so I guess email would be your best bet) And they are pretty responsive to email inquiries (I'm saying this from my experience from Buffalo visa office, not sure if other visa offices are the same or somewhat different). And I don't think by inquiring about your application, you would delay it.

Also, how does the timeline work?? 3-7 months from when Damascus starts processing or from when the whole application has been processed (Mississauga...etc...)??

I believe its when your application is transfered to the particular visa office. and not the time when its in CPC.

can someone who knows for sure, tell me whether the 3-7 months starts from the time Damascus starts processing or from the time for the whole thing??

It starts from the time the visa office receives the file.
