Steps to link your Study permit paper application online

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/mycic.asp
2) Select: continue to Gckey
3)Select: Sign up on next page and create your username, password and security questions.
4)After creating my cic account, click link application to this account.
5)Then select category as Temporary residence and subcategory as Study permit and extension.
6)Then select Family name,given name and date of birth option.
7)Fill your family name(surname), given name and date of birth.
8)Next in applicant personal info fill passport information only and DONOT FILL CITY AND COUNTRY OF BIRTH.
9) Fill program start and end date as well as DLI number of the institution (found in offer letter)
10) Your application will be found and can be linked.
11) You can get real time updates on your paper application.

Thanks for that, now i can link my application. But in the interview schedule column it is showing " not need at this time" but the gave a schedule for interview at 12 june and they mailed me for that interview. I don't know why it is not showing in my profile. Do you have any idea.

I thought Canadian study permits did not require an interview!

I am also surprised after receiving the mail, I am a full funded student, may be they need some clarification, I head now a day they are asking interview in our country like Bangladesh, Let see what they want know or clarification. I am little worried also. so preparing for that.

I applied in Singapore visa office through VSF Dhaka, asking to present in interview at Dhaka Canadian high commission at 12 June, 16. I also asked me to confirmed by return mail.

Thanks for posting this! I have been trying for weeks now and it still says no applications found. I tried what you said by providing my passport info only and not city and country of birth, it is still not working.

If I link my application online, will I get emails from CIC? I have seen on CIC website that they will not inform us by emails if we do so.

@FMjeb, no idea bro why you are not able to link up if you are filing the information correct.
@dpp,you can get email when your application has any kind of update after you link the application. Online provides much more info than offline.

For given name, is it only my first name or all the given names I gave in my application form?

hi thanks for informative post , i followed these instructions , and filled all the forms , now when i sign in it says welcome A................. and when i press continue it takes me to immigration and citizenship section of cic site, i opted my application option then check my status....after filling required field it again takes me to the page stating online application to sign in and paper application to link

i am confused how to access my account and know the status......
please please please guide me i am not sure wether my paper application is linked successfully to online account or not

I have applied offline on 21st July via VFS Bangalore. Should I link my offline application with GIC?

Or if I link it now will it be changed to online application?

I am FSW2014(NON Express Entry) applicant,

My Experience of "link application to this account"

I have been trying since month(or nearly year) to link the application but every time it says "No Application", I raised several technical complains all went futile, all the time they send me same steps to follow, which I am already following, finally I decided to do some HIT and TRY, so I incorrectly filled "Sub Category" as Express Entry instead of "Federal Skilled Worker", then finally my application get found and I linked the application to my online account, I double checked and verified the APPLICATION#, it was same as mine,

I dont know whether it is wrong or right, So the catch is for fsw2014 you have to fill Express Entry(although I am not Express Entry Applicant).
