I entered Canada with an eTA as a visitor (Feb 12) since I am waiting for my work permit to get here at some point in March. Upon entry I put I was going to stay here for 2 months (didn't know I could stay up to 6 with eTA), so the 2 months is coming to an end and I still don't have my work permit. How can I stay in the country for longer? Is it okay to stay for another 4 months since my eTA allows it but i didn't write it on the form, or should I apply for a visitor record? or leave the country and come back with my eTA again?

Thank you!

as far as i know,if the officer at border hasn’t stamped any exit date on your passport, you can stay upto 6months with a normal visitor visa…( for some people the immigration officers ask them to leave by a specific date)
