Hello,
I had study and work permit, both expired on Aug 30 2015. I applied for new work permit on Aug 29, 2015 and CIC received my application next day. So my assumption is that I am on implied status now. However, yesterday I got stopped by police (nothing serious) and they checked my history and stuff and mentioned that I can only stay in Canada until November 30. So now I assume that CIC gave me 90 days to restore my status (sep, oct and nov). But I don't need to restore it, I am supposed to be on implied status! I called CIC and explained my situation and they just gave my some links and didn't want to answer my questions (guess that they have to access to view my profile). I went to my local police station and asked if they can do the same thing their officer did to check my status, but they said they got no idea how the officer did it and who did he call. So now I'm very confused and don't now what to do or whom to call. What options I do have guys? ::)

P.S. I tried to create another application for work permit and now it says that my status expired and I need to restore it and pay restoration fees. I didn't have this message at the time I applied before because I applied before my status got expired. Why did they give me only 90 to stay then? got no clue...

NO... you can stay legally on implied status until a decision is made on ur work permit application.. the 90 day period starts AFTER a rejection decision is made on wp application.. applicant has to apply for restoration within 90 days of rejection.

Thank you for your answer. Why police officer has told me that I have time only until November then? :'(

It's just my guess but it's possible that system counts 90 days since you original wp expiration date. The reason for this is that CIC didn't start working on your application yet and so the system is not yet updated with the new approval/refusal date. Again, this is just my guess. I have no idea how it really works.

I called CIC again yesterday and the guy answered my call was very helpful. He said it might be mistake or they haven't updated my profile yet, so he advised me to wait for my WP and save my old one with dates on it and my application with date of submission just in case. I have to be on implied status. CIC advises to start working on new wp at least 30 days before your old one expires, but it's just a recommendation. As long as you applied before expiration day you will be on implied status. I wrote down his name and employee number, date of our talk just in case. Hopefully, everything will be fine :)
