Status Changed to Decision Made

Hi,

Today I checked the online application status and after more than a year, it was changed to decision made. Strangely, it said that they began processing the application (London office) on April 27, 2015, which I know to be false. Perhaps this means that it was when they made the decision? In any case, is it normal that we have not been notified by email yet? I would have assumed that they would email once the decision is made. Do they try to call? My common-law partner, who I am sponsoring is now visiting me in Canada so I would have to provide London with my telephone number if a call is to be expected. They already have my mail address.

Thank you!

My wife's application changed to decision made a day or two before a weekend as well, the embassy then emailed her on Monday or Tuesday immediately after said weekend. They email the applicant at this stage, not the sponsor, I would assume your partner will have an email in the next couple of days with more information. I'm not well versed in how non-visa applicants are dealt with, my wife is Russian so she was asked to send her passport for visa stamping.

Congratulations, you're almost done.

London won't email or call, they just mail out the COPR.

Hi Elk, We received the same notice through the CIC website as well on May 2nd this week. It says "a decision has been made." Does yours say anything else? About approval or anything? Waiting a whole weekend is nail biting. I can't think of any reason for being rejected but I suppose anything is possible. And if it was rejected based on an application mistake then I could be barred from applying again for the next 2 years?

Most of time it means approval.
They would NEVER refuse a case without talking to you first, call for an interview, etc...
So... CONGRATS!

Nope, it just says decision made. Good luck!

And thanks for the information, everyone. I will write when I have a response from them.

Thank you everybody!

ELK, I received my CPR (Certification of Permanent Residence) today by post mail instead of email.

The letter says that need to go to a CIC office (after arranging an appointment through the call centre) to get the PR status or I can exit and re-enter Canada. I'm assuming a trip to Buffalo would suffice. :D

Good Luck, Thanks again!

COPR will only come by mail (it is a secured document).

I believe Inland *HAS* to land at a office, which includes a interview with both partners. If you are Outland, I believe you get the option of landing at a border.

That's right. I applied as Outland instead of Inland even though I'm living in Canada. (So confusing!) Thanks!
You don't have to make an appointment, just go to your nearest border and flagpole.

Just from personal experience in mailing between Canada and the UK, it's normally between 7 and 12 working days.

In that case, it should come this week.

You can drive across the border and then come back, or if you tell the U.S. border guards that you're landing, they will give you a piece of paper in the office sending you back.

If you want to get an appointment in an office in less than two months, you need to tell them it's urgent and they will try to accommodate you, but going to the border is much simpler and much faster if you're anywhere near there.

Just don't make the mistake I made and arrive past 11:30 at night when all the immigration people had gone home. That didn't work. :)
