Maybe you are right, but i just want to do things the right way according to CIC rules and regulations. And i am not sponsoring him or vice versa. I think it's just the matter of letting them know about everything, to avoid misrepresentation, which, i have read here in the forum, might be a serious one.

Hello guys,

I was searching for my questions and ended reading it here i might get my answer.
so here is the situation i applied in Oct 2014 and I had received my AOR in feb 2015. Meanwhile my application was on I got married to a Canadian citizen (OUR WEDDING MONTH JAN -2015). I do not want to apply PR for her as she is citizen. Should I have to inform CIC about my marital status? Or should I just wait till my application is finished?

Reply will be appreciated

Thanks In advance

Yes, you should inform CIC that your status has changed (you can do it by email). You can tell them that your wife is a Canadian citizen (include a scan of your marriage certificate and her birth certificate or Canadian passport). She won't be added to your application, but your information will be updated (they may ask you to update a form or two, or they may not).

Hello, Thank you so much for taking time to respond. I appreciate your input.

Yes, we have been living for more than 12 months, and I was not aware that i have to include him as a common law partner since he is already a PR. We have the proof of living together, ie rent receipts and life insurance. I was just wondering, will this be considered a misrepresentation already if i send them an update, now that i am on my 10 month processing of PR?

Did you end up hearing back from them after you sent the email? We also made the same mistake and we are not sure what to do since my partner was asked to submit an IMM5406 form again.
