Start express entry profile and possibly apply for PR before I get my extended work permit?

Hi everyone,

I graduated in 2016, and I am eligible for 3 year PGWP. However, my passport was expiring, so I only got the work permit for less than 3 years. I will have my 1 year work experience in a few days. I am also taking CELPIP in a few days too. I'm not sure what is the best way. Start my express entry profile with my test score in a month from now when I have the results? From my calculation and trends, I might have a point above the cut-off point. If this is the case, I will get an ITA, right? But my current work permit expires end of this year. I applied for an extension a couple of weeks ago, and I think current processing time is about 2 months. So if I get an ITA, would it be a good idea to apply for PR without my extended work permit? Or should I just wait to create an express entry profile until I get my extended work permit? This work permit will be until 2019.

I'm not sure how I should proceed.

Any advice is welcome!

Thanks.

You don't have to wait until your work permit is extended.

As long as you meet the requirements for the CEC program you can go ahead and submit your profile.

Thanks for your input. So even though my new work permit is being processed I can apply? What happens after I submit until I get my new work permit approved?

Yes, you can still apply.

No idea what you're asking in your other question.
