I wanna start processing the application for my parents sponsorship for January 2014. I would like to know what are the steps and details to get started. I am a Permanent Resident in Canada since August 2010. Please help. Thanks.

Parents sponsorship is not opened yet, and nobody knows what it will look like when it re-opens. So unfortunately - you will have to wait until CIC provides the information.

What is your family situation? wife ? kids and is it both parents

Main Point = Increase minimum necessary income (MNI) for sponsoring parents and grandparents equivalent by 30 percent: The current MNI does not accurately reflect the increased costs associated with being financially responsible for elderly parents and grandparents. The modest increase in the MNI will ensure sponsors are able to meet the financial needs of their sponsored parents and grandparents, which will reduce the net costs to Canadian taxpayers.

thanks for your replies. would the minimun income be just mine or me and my husband's? it's both parents im sponsoring and they have two dependents.

2+2+2 = 6 people ( Husband+wife+2Parents+2Dependants ) - No kids I assume

So 2 points
1) Min Income needed to sponsor would be: ( LICO for 2013 for 6 ppl is around 55K and 2014 would probably be 58K +30% increase ) so around 75K
Basically, you or both ( husband as co-signer ) should be making 75K per year ( single or together), 3 years prior to sponsorship, i.e, 2011, 2012, 2013

2) Dependants: Have to be 18 and under
