Today, finally I got oath letter 63 months after my application. I almost cried.

I think that my case is the one of the worst case in this forum.
The reason why I posted it is for giving hope to our brothers and sisters passing very long dark tunnel.

This is my timeline and what happened.

<Local Office : Mississauga, ON>

2010 Dec : Applied
2011 Sep : Test in Hamilton Office (because our home was moved to Hamilton)
2011 Oct : RQ requested / RQ docs submitted within 3 days
2011 - 2015 : Our files were transferred to St. Clair office

2015 Mar : Citizenship Judge Hearing for 2.5 hrs ==> Very thorough investigation (in Mississauga Office again, because our home was returned back to Mississauga)
2015 Mar : We submitted additional docs that CJ requested 1 day right after Hearing. CJ was satisfied by our swift preparation.
2015 Mar : CJ approved our citizenship 2 days after hearing

2015 Apr : CIC disagreed CJ decision and appealed our case to the Federal Court (St. Clair officer did it)
2015 Oct : Federal Court Judge Hearing ==> Because we didn't understand processes and didn't have enough finance, we had to fight against CIC's lawyer by ourselves. We pointed out the critical error of CIC's insistences in terms of the fact and the perspective. Hearing was approximately 90 minutes.
2015 Oct : Federal Court Judge decided to agree original CJ's decision 1 week after Hearing. Originally Judge said it could take up to 4 months, but he actually decided to support us almost immediately
2015 Nov : CIC St. Clair local office recognized the Federal Court decision

2016 Feb 25 : eCas became "Decision Made"
2016 Mar 16 : Oath Letter
2016 Mar 29 : Oath Ceremony at St. Clair office

We extremely are exhausted and we cannot feel we really will become Canadian yet even though we got oath letter today.

Cheer up all our companions who got RQ.

Absolute torture which was common practice for all those who have applied under the old rules.

The system before June last year was completely broken with huge potential for enormous delays.

I just don't see how a person can be happy at the Oath after all that experience. I hope that you can at least fake a happy attitude at your Oath.

;D ;D ;D

Ok Ok I will try it. Good advice.

But I have the least memory of happiness in this torture process. Federal Court Judge was totally our side. He was gentle and so reasonable. When CIC appeal against CJ decision, I thought CIC and all Federal Court would be connected and try to kill immigrants. However, justice was alive in the Federal Court and I really see the hope from Federal Court Judge.

Congratulations very happy to see that you won your case and got your oath. During Conservative time CIC was acting as a dictator and they turn their department as slave torture chambers where no one can raise any voice. So many applicants face 48 months delay but your case 63 months delay is speechless and create more anger against CIC work style.

Congratulation my process took 41 months and responsible office for delay St. Clair.
Thanks to somebody somewhere in CIC for sending my file to Montreal CEN and they did it in two months flat.
One of the call center agent told me it is better to be last in line in Montreal then first in line at St.Clair for RQ review.

So how do people's applications get assigned to St. Clair office? is it random or one has the option to send it somewhere else?

Generally the processing location is based from where you apply. But recently due to high volume of applicants even normal processing applications have been sent to St. Clair. Based on inputs in this forum, I have seen Scarborough and Mississauga based applicants being sent to St. Clair. May be in the past St. Clair was responsible for handling RQ cases only.

From Jan to December 2015, CIC has received only 130,177 applications, that's comparing to 198,720 in 2014.
CIC says that they have 129,513 applications in inventory (I assume that means backlogged).
so tell me, why do you think that there is high volume of applicants ?

Congrats!

What was the reason for the RQ and referral to a citizenship judge? Did you apply with less days?

It is very nice to see that there is still hope. I applied 60 months ago and still waiting...

Congrats . A long process, I would say way overdue in terms of time .
Our case took 2 years 7 months with multiple RQ for both me and wife, St. Clair office. Very stressful at times, when we don't have any feedback about where our application is stuck or why.I thought we had it rough but your case took double our time with added matter of CJ hearing and appeal. I can totally sympathise with you.
Hope you enjoy the feeling of finally becoming s Canadian citizen

Hearty Congrats !!! Salute your patience and determined fight to get your right. I can understand your relief. I'm happy for you.

Unfortunately, some troll on this forum argued that CIC is doing their job and blamed the candidates mistakes for the delays. I wish that individual read your plight to understand how helpless candidates are been tortured by CIC without any accountability.

If CIC disagree and appeals against their own appointed Citizenship Judges. Why they have them in the first place. Its cheap drama to
fool the helpless candidates and drag their cases for years. This pattern clearly fit the CIC's operations - Create chaos and rule it.

Its high time, Liberal Government appoint a watchdog body to investigate the complete operations at CIC. CIC seems to work without any accountability or responsibility. Even after increasing the fee by 500% there is hardly any improvement at all, candidates still suffer.

I don't know the exact reason of RQ and being appealed to Federal Court.

I applied exactly after more than 1,100 days.

In Federal Court, CIC lawyer just attacked us with very useless logics and fully misunderstood facts.

When we answer one by one correctly based upon facts and reasonability with submitting suitable evidences, Judge in Federal Court agreed us very immediately. It means that they did RQ and appealed without clear reason.

I just traveled a lot cause of my job. My passport has full of stamps. Even though all my travel history was reasonably cleared, they never were satisfied.
