I would suggest u to try to contact supervisors working in ur research interest area first. It is pretty difficult to get into a thesis program even wd a good gpa (even wd a good gpa applicants need to be accepted by a supervisor first) So i would say that it will be a waste of money to apply to a thesis program without securing a supervisor.
Applying to a course based program would b better in memorial if u really want to apply their.
Yes applying early in regina dosent work it dosent hav a rolling admission policy like in concordia and memorial

Supervisor dont really revert, I emailed to like 10 and got replies from only two only when I called them.
I couldn't apply to UOIT just because I didnt get any supervisor.

Yes it is pretty rare to get a reply frm professors and they reply n get in contact wd those students whose research work (past) and research proposal (future) interest them n they dnt bother replying to anyone else. But wat u shd keep in mind is tht those r the very professors who will get ur application if u apply to thesis. In thesis programs an applicants file is rotated within the faculty members n they pick n choose applicants if they have vacancy ..i faced the same issue before. I mailed approximately 15 professors in different universities and got reply frm 4 and all in negative. Thats y i applied in course based.
But in the end its ur choice. If u want to take a chance then go ahead and hope for the best.

I dont have a research background and grades are to average so my chances would be rarest among rare.

I guess tht thesis program without any past research xperience n publication wil b difficult to get into, yes.
Im curious as to y u applied to regina but r hesitant to apply in memorial? Bcz UR has more stringent gpa conditions n a history of rejecting applicants even wd 3.2 3.3 gpa and memorial has a loose leash on gpa as compared to UR...

I didnt research much about Regina, deadline was close so I applied.

Mine is stil the same
They take 1-1.5 months after they send the file to dpt.
I think u'l hear something after the new year bcz its the holidays there now...

Application status still says

Decision: Pending Dept/Faculty Selection

However the date is mentioned on my docs saying received on

HOw long am I supposed to wait, how much time to these guys take to update the application ?

Hi, I applied for the MSc Computer Science on 17th November for Spring/Summer Term, still my status did not change since last month.

Its showing as follow:

Admission Term: 2016 Spring & Summer
Admission Type: Non-Cdn Post-Secondary Inst.
Application Status: Complete; Ready for review
Decision: Pending Dept/Faculty Selection

Ur "pending dpt/faculty selection" shows tht ur file is being assesed by the department rite now..u wait n hopefully u will hear from them in a few weeks..regina takes alot of time..

Oh I see I just hope that I get a positive response by Jan end, though I applied for thesis I feel the chances are slim

Yeah I did apply for spring 2016, and just got a decision showing 'GS cond'l offer of acceptance" last week. JFYI, I applied for the Meng prog in ESE.

What's your decision status presently. From what I can Infer, admission decisions for spring 2016 are being rolled out already.
