I'm an international student that has completed my program and will soon apply for my PGWP, my wife has a work permit will expire a month after my study permit, my permit was submitted as a supporting document for her work permit. I would like to know:

Should I apply to extend her work permit at the same time I apply for my Post Grad Work Permit?

or

Do we apply for her permit after my PGWP has been approved? If so; based on the processing time, how will her status be impacted if her permit expires while I am still awaiting a decision on my permit?

or

Can she apply independently?

You can apply to extend her OWP either with your PGWP or separately. For your wife to qualify to extend her OWP, you must have a NOC A, B or 0 job and must include three pay slips with her extension application to prove you are working in that job.

No - it doesn't.
I appreciate your help Scylla. At some point; she will may to change her status to a visitor as her permit will expire. Once I get a job and the request is submitted to reinstate her work permit, is she able to work under the implied status?

No - she will not be able to work. She cannot work under visitor status.

She won't be able to start working again until she has a valid work permit.

ok, thanks again Scylla. You've been a great help.

Oh; one more thing Scylla, say I get a NOC job while the application for my work permit is being processed and I have three payslips, can my wife use my job letter and the three payslips to apply for her permit?
