Hi all,
I am currently living together with my common-law in Vancouver BC, and I have a Canadian citizenship.
My common law had been in Canada for 3 years and her student permit expired at the end of Nov 2018.
I have submitted my family class sponsorship application on Oct 2018 to sponsor my common-law for PR. I only paid right away the sponsorship fee($550) and the work permit fee($225), but not the Right of Permanent Residence fee($490) because it says on the website that "you may choose to pay later, however this may cause delay." (I took it as nothing serious)
Right now I am trying to reapply MSP for her (because hers expired along with her study permit on Nov 2018) as she is having some heart problem that require specialist's attention(we already paid out of our own pocket for the family doctor appointment for the specialist referral).
And supposedly the MSP coverage's 3-month waiting period was supposed to start on the date I paid my sponsorship fees, which I did back in Oct 2018 and get MSP coverage now after 3 months in Feb 2019, but it turned out now the MSP agents are saying that the 3-month waiting period starts AFTER I have paid ALL the fees including the ROPR(which I paid in January, 2019) and not just the sponsorship fee.
I was totally unaware and shocked that by not paying the ROPR right away, it would cause a huge problem like the MSP coverage delay. I am just wondering if anyone was in the same situation or it was just me and to confirm if it is true? If so, if it is listed anywhere on their websites as it is quite important I will say.
Thank you all for reading and thank you in advance for your help!
