Hi Asivad,

Thanks again. Yes, I did input my full name in the last name field and the system responded positively, same for my spouse, I entered her name in the last name field and left the first name field blank and was successful in updating info, hence, I guess I will go with the CIC instructions and keep them as it is, although no check box still.

Thanks for your help again :)

Regards,

VSG
Hello Gautam,

Just to inform you... that we faced the same issue. Even my spouse has her surname blank in her passport. We did the same (wrote given name in last name and kept given name blank) during our EE profile submission.

But recently as we received an ITA, and we were trying to fill the forms, it does not allow us to keep the surname blank anymore, it just won't let you go ahead.
So, be prepared for that part.

We are currently in the process of getting a new passport for her with surname.

Hi Draviki,

Thank you for this important info. However, you say that initially you entered the complete name in the Last name field and kept given name blank and post ITA you have mentioned that you are trying to keep surname field blank (highlighted your comment in bold).

1. Is this a typo? do you mean that you are not able to proceed by keeping Given/First name field blank?
2. Or, are you by mistake now trying to keep surname blank instead of first name field, if yes, can you try the same entry as you did while creating EE profile and let me know if it worked? else I will update my application..

No, I did not faced any issues while updating marital status, have successfully submitted my profile yesterday. What is the exact error you are facing? I hope you entered your marital status correctly in Come to Canada tool as some the information is transmitted from there too.

Hi VSG,

I did input my full name in the last name field and the system responded positively, even though i could not find the check box as mentioned in CIC help.
But the issue i am facing now is in PR Spouse form.
Form Name : Personal Details --- > Marital Status. " Error Description: First name(s): You have not completed all the mandatory fields or you have not completed them correctly. Make corrections where indicated"

Hi Jimso,

Kindly check if you have entered your spouse name correctly i.e. both the fields....also, I suggest you to go through the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=014&t=4 which says to put NA in first name in our case. I am suggesting this because one of the forum members reported earlier today that post ITA the system doesn't allow you to proceed by keeping Given Name field blank. Hence, I have too updated my profile as per the above link.

Thanks Gautam. I used the same info when i created EE profile. But the CIC help information
"Only one name on passport
If you have only one name or if your name appears in only one line on your passport, enter the entire name in the last name field and check the box under the first name field that says: "By checking this box, I affirm that there is no first name indicated on the applicant's passport"
confused me.

I think its better to update as per the link as N/A with LOE. Thanks Gautam for the info.
