Hi All,

I am currently stuck in the process of creating EE profile, kindly help if aware what to do -

Scenario -

Updating Spouse information, Spouse passport only has first name, last name field is blank. While trying to do the same, the system is not letting me proceed to the next stage as an input in all fields is mandatory. Also, tried to input dot (.) but didn't work (this had worked when applied for IELTS).

Kindly know if there is any other credible work around which has been successfully implemented before.

Regards,

VSG

Input that as "Not Applicable" and be prepared for your spouse name to appear with the Not Applicable tag. Explain the lack of a Last Name in an LOE attached with the passport section.

Hi Asivad,

Thanks for your response, so this LOE wil have to provided post ITA uploading of documents? and does it needs to be notarized?

I just came across an anomaly on my passport too, so the field containing 'Surname' on my passport is blank and my full name including surname is under the field 'Given Name'. So, how do I do put this on my EE profile. By clicking on the help question mark, I get the below info -

"Only one name on passport

If you have only one name or if your name appears in only one line on your passport, enter the entire name in the last name field and check the box under the first name field that says: "By checking this box, I affirm that there is no first name indicated on the applicant's passport"

But I am unable to find the check box anywhere! And does this mean that I input my first and middle name too in the last name field?

Do as the instructions say even if you can't locate the check box. If it doesn't allow you to proceed without a first name, put 'Not Applicable' there for now and explain using an LOE later.

Hi Asivad,

Thanks again. Yes, I did input my full name in the last name field and the system responded positively, same for my spouse, I entered her name in the last name field and left the first name field blank and was successful in updating info, hence, I guess I will go with the CIC instructions and keep them as it is, although no check box still.

Thanks for your help again :)

One more thing Asivad but not related to name issue,

The EE profile has asked for my wife's work history + NOC codes, altough it is outside of Canada and per one of your earlier posts, we do not get points for the same. Is this natural?

Yes. This won't fetch you any points and you are allowed to not share this information at all.

How are so many of you getting passports without last names? Get new ones asap.

So if i choose to provide this info, the noc category for my spouse work exp will have no effect on my application (as her NOC is falling outside of O, A and B categories)?

Yes. It will have no bearing on your application - it is completely superfluous information.

It may not be that the passport agency left out the last name - in some parts of the world, people have only one name.

Hi vsgautam ,

Even i have the same issue. Do you face any issue while updating marital status info in personal details section after you have updated name details.
As mentioned by CIC help, i have updated name details but now facing issue in marital status section. Any suggestions please.

No, I did not faced any issues while updating marital status, have successfully submitted my profile yesterday. What is the exact error you are facing? I hope you entered your marital status correctly in Come to Canada tool as some the information is transmitted from there too.
