The Canadian embassy in my husband's country of residence just asked me to get confirmation from CBSA in writing that he will be allowed to enter the country. This feels like a neverending wild goose chase lol. When I spoke to the officer yesterday and asked if he could send an email to the embassy letting them know my husband can enter Canada, he said no. Hopefully the email that I forwarded where the embassy is clearly asking for CBSA's confirmation in writing will be enough for them.
No, CBSA will not give you such confirmation letter. The officer I talked to made it clear that the final authority is still at the hands of officers at POE. But with more and more positive answers and cases, I hope it will be consensus that CBSA will allow immediate family members of Canadian citizens and PRs who have CoPR to enter Canada.

Any spouse landed recently?
Hi, I'm planning on landing on June 14. My COPR/PR application under spousal sponsorship was approved March 20, 2020. I'm hoping to have approval by the immigration officer and allowed entry as i'll be travelling from India. The exemption rules are very confusing since we are travelling for essential reasons and not for tourism. I hope there won't be any issues.

Hi there, I sent my in-land SS application with an OWP application that was received via courier on 24th March. I'm currently in BC on a ETA with expires mid July. I've still had no contact from IRCC and and am unable to find my application online to link to my IRCC account. Where do I stand when my ETA expires? Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks

Non of us (march applicants) have received any updates. You can apply to extend your stay as visitor (before your current status expires) that's what most of us have done

Nice! So finally immediate family members got some "privilege"!

Have a good and safe trip and enjoy your new life in Canada with your families!!
I think the exemption was always there, but it was confusing because of the approved application on or before March 18, 2020 and this was causing confusion for those who were approved after and the CBSA officers. This announcement makes it very clear and hopefully easier for spouse's and parents to enter Canada. I'm travelling on June 14th! super excited!

OK thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to do that online via my IRCC account but am going in circles on the website and cannot find how to apply for a visitor record here. Any advice? Thanks
