Spouse work permit at new york embassy

I am on closed work permit in Canada and my wife is green card holder of USA.and She is an Indian Citizen.

I want to apply spouse work permit at new york Consulate.


Just want to know if she apply at New york consulate, does she has to send original passport or just photocopy of passport?

when you apply for visa, you need submit original passport, no matter where you submit your application. The Visa has to be attached to your original passport.

but she does nt need visa as she can enter to Canada with her States Green Card.

She can go to the border and show her passport and Green Card to enter, but not sure if she could apply for WP at POE. Why not call the New York office to find out.

2. His spouse is a green card holder, doesn't require a TRV to enter Canada, doesn't need to apply for the work permit at New York. She can apply on entry to Canada for an OWP, with her passport/green card, copy of spouse's work permit (Has to be in NOC, A, B or O.)and proof of the marriage.

yes is better at the border but if she want to apply within, the letter to show will be send to her email.

ok the question you ask is if to send in passport or photocopy both should be send to embassy,.hope it help. The issue here is not just to enter Canada but to work as well that mean you will have to apply for work permit to enable her work and I assume she will not work less than six month alternatively as everyone suggest before to apply at border.

I know she can not live more than 6 months as she has to go back to USA to continue permanent resident status.

Thanks in advance to reading my message.
I am from India working in Canada, my husband works in USA, and wants to apply for Canada open work permit.

Could you please suggest some info on:
1. Can I apply for him within Canada (but he being outside Canada, in USA)
2. if he applies from USA (to new york office), is he supposed to send original I94 and I797 along with passport (or photocopies of I94 or I797 would work), since we are ver much concerned about sending the original documents.

Also how long is it taking to get OWP from New york office? Thanks a ton ...

Nope, he is a big boy, he has to apply himself, with proof of your status in Canada.
