Spouse work and express entry eligibility

Hi,

I am currently working on closed work permit valid till July 2017 and on the basis of my work permit my wife has got a spousal open work permit valid till July 2017. She is currently working too. Unfortunately my assignment has ended and I have to go back to my home country.

1)Could my wife legally stay and work here until her work permit expires after I (primary applicant) go back to my home country

2)She would be completing 1 year of Canadian work experience in coming months. Could she apply as a primary applicant in express entry for PR? I am concerned because she is my dependent on a SOWP and I was the primary applicant while applying for the work permit
