Hello,

I am an International student, pursuing Masters in Comp Sc in Canada.

My fiance is in India and we are trying to figure out the best possible way to get together. I have completed half of my course here. I am planning to get married this December so that we can file our documents in time. He is currently working as a software engineer in India.

What all things should we keep in mind?

Please provide your views on this.

Thank you!

Yes, I know I cannot sponsor him like the PR's can do.
What are the possible ways for us to get together?

Please provide your guidance.

Thanks!

Immigrates to Canada through an economic stream, finds an employer willing to go through the LMIA process so he can get a work permit. Comes here on a student visa. Visits on a visitor visa. There are a number of options.

Is he your common law partner? You said he was your fiance in your original post, but if you've been common law before then he could get a work permit for the rest of your studies possibly

We are planning to get married soon. My study permit ends in 2017, and i will apply for a work permit thereafter. What do you suggest?
How should we go about it?

The spouse of someone with a study permit can get an open work permit.
Once you have graduated, you might qualify to become a PR through the Canadian Experience Class. If so, your spouse would be included on the application as well.

Wait until you're married, then apply for the work permit for him.

What all supporting documents do we need to strengthen our application?
I am concerned about our profiles..

Thank you!

I don't think there is the same kind of scrutiny for a spousal work permit as there is for the PR.

I believe you need a job with a NOC level 0, A or B for your spouse to qualify for the open work permit, so keep that in mind (though it shouldn't be an issue with a Masters in Comp Sci).

He might need a medical exam, depending on your home country.

You are asking in the wrong section. You'll get much more help in the International Students section.
