hi gaafaa in the invitation to interview letter what did they ask from ur wife? did they ask her to bring additional supporting documents proves or income? did they state any reason at all? usually the interview could b either to prove the relationship (most of them), or as u said on the other thread to prove that u can financially support yourselves (there is no income requirement for this category but some had this problem) or security interview (highly unlikely especially for female applicant)....i guess prepare urselves very well questions abt relationship and abt income (if she has a job/any career in uae and speaks good english she needs to put that in value, explain that together u won't need help from the gouverment)

if u don't mind, update us!! tell us how it went....abu-dhabi members r scarce around here, everyone is in the dark

by the way, i didn't go through this embassy yet, all i tell u it's common knowledge from everywhere; also considering the abu-dhabi timelines ur interview schedule is sooo fast, me i see this as very positive sign!!!! good luck!!

I am sponsoring my wife from saudi arabia thru Abu Dhabi office too.
My application was sent to Abu dahbi on october 2010 and they started processing it on dec 2010, then they ask for other documents.

Now my wife was asked to come for an interview on jeddah on the first week of feb. In the letter she was asked to bring other proofs of relationship.
We are worried because currently I am on disability and she does not speak english which I understood from other members are factors for refusal.

I mentioned in the application that we are going to have wedding reception last sep which we could not because I could not afford it.

what shall I expect?
thanks in advance

hi coast-coast don't think too much now at the outcome, just try your best to prepare well and bring as many proofs as possible!! the proofs from the moment u submitted the application will probably have a bigger weight than old proofs or proofs which they should have already seen; but anyway, in case u didn't sent initially it's never too late; here are some ideas:
- travel together (plane tickets, hotel bookings, receipts, photos)
- communication during separation (phone bills, chat/sms/skype/email logs; it's better if the phone bills r from both sides, calling each other, but if it's just urs it's still ok)
- ur visits to her (passport stamps, plane tickets, photos)
- her visits to u (if they didn't happen explain why, if her visa was rejected bring proof)
- cohabitation - make sure that it's clear for them that during ur trips or travel together u lived together
- more photos - with your families, friends, community, from special occasions/events
- shared bank accounts, mortgage, lease, loan, naming one another as beneficiary, wills, life insurance with ur names, other shared assets
- cards/gifts sent to each other (receipts from those)
- do u have any emails where u discuss future plans, how to arrange ur home in canada, stuff like that? (it could help)

also she needs to remember well the answers she gave when she initially filled in the forms...and definately she needs an interpreter (which will not look too good for them)

this thread also can help u:

good luck and keep us updated!!

u welcome :) no need to have all those (there were just examples); if u usually don't email no use to start emailing now; show what u have, the phone bills are good, let her wife show them the daily conversations, ur number (name), her number (name), and show them from the oldest one possible; also in skype there is history (not sure if of the calls) and u can take screenshots of that; it's good cuz it shows the timestamp....maybe u can also see the history of calls, but maybe u need some special software for that (google and search on this forum too); the most important to make sure she knows everything abt u, all ur relationship details and to try to convince them that u won't need any gouverment aid once she arrives there - if u have other family in canada, close friends or if she has, maybe they can write a letter for u stating that they will help u when she arrives etc

also yeah probably they will ask why the wedding didn't take place yet; lack of finance is good but no need to emphasize it too much; maybe she could describe a series of circumstances; the most important she needs to stay calm and answer truthfully

best of luck!!

that's actually strange cuz from what i heard before they sent the residency questionnaire at the beginning and then u wait maybe 1 year for them to give any news; well fill that with all the details possible, explain separately how she can work in canada too, her experience studies, ur experience studies = like when u present urself at a job interview, if any of u have family/friends who can financially help or be a good source for a potential job ask for their help - a letter, email anything

yes and everything abt ur relationship!!!

of course u need to keep the hope alive :) good luck!!!

hi Gafaa from my opinion (but i'm not proffesional in this) i would send more than less; so yeah i would show bank statements (or pay stubs), credit card proofs, i would show letter from ur company stating ur job, number of hours, salary and the fact that it's permanent (hopefully it is!); and yeah also support letter from ur friends, maybe even some employment opportunities for ur wife (only if ur wife field experience matches that company's expertise); if ur wife has some savings show that too

i remember i read once in a guide just out of curiosity for people sponsorsing other family members and where the income is a main requirement and it was showing a table for income for quebec; for a family of 2 the cost is expected to be around 21.000-23.000/year if i remember correctly; that was last year i suppose this year is a little higher and also for other provinces is also a little higher (from what i know the cost of living in quebec is less); i think a family can live with less but that's what it is in their norms....so yeah show whatever u can!! good luck!

Hello everyone;

wife just had an interview with Visa officer, it lasted 45 min, she was asked everything about me, i mean everything including my age,how we met,my children from previous marriage, their names and age, finally the interviewer told her that, she is satisfied with our relationship and the only thing that is preventing her to issue a Visa is my divorce letter. my divorce paper was based on Islam Sharia and isn't recognize here in Canada. so i need to get official divorce paper from Canada. once i get that paper she will finalize my application.

My advise to anyone that is called for an interview is (" prepare to know everything about your spouse"). that is the whole idea i guess.

I just want to thank everyone here, specially MISSIMNI for his input, yes i filled new divorce papers with Ontario superior court, it will take 4-5 months, until then( KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE!!).
