I have recently met someone through a family friend, and I am considering getting married to her and sponsoring her to stay in Canada. Some background information: she is 50 years old and currently on a temporary visa to visit family, while I am 80 years old. I have two questions regarding this matter: First, will my age affect the sponsorship process in any way? And second, should I choose the inland or outland sponsorship route?

To sponsor a spouse, there's no income threshold that I need to meet. I have income from various sources including old age security. She will also work as well.

Your age won't be an issue however it's possible IRCC may have concerns about the age gap between you and your spouse. You will want to provide sufficient evidence to show this is a genuine relationship and your spouse isn't entering into in for the primary purpose of remaining in Canada.

Whether inland or outland is up to you.

To sponsor a spouse, there's no income threshold that I need to meet. I have income from various sources including old age security. She will also work as well.

You cannot sponsor another spouse until your 3 years over taking has past.
Did your previous wife got her PR? Or are you using this account to ask questions for different people?

Regarding to 80 years old getting an arranged marriage to a 50 years old, I think it's possible but your relationship will be look into carefully by the case officier.
Will you have a big wedding? (a big deal to get married at 80!) Have your spouse met the rest of your families and friends?

Given the warning signs you should date for at least 6 months if not more before applying. Living together before getting married would also be a good idea. What country your future spouse is from will have an impact, how you met, what you have in common, your health, whether the sponsored party has their own savings, etc. She would be of working age while you have likely been retired for quite some time and are at quite different stages in life. I don’t mean any offence but you are likely slowing down when it comes to what you can enjoy in life while a 50 year old is not. You will have to convince IRCC that immigration has no influence on this sponsorship and relationship. Have they attempted to remain in Canada via work or study permit or have they applied for express entry? Although there is no income requirement to sponsor a spouse you must be able to show that you can support your family without government support. CPP would likely not be enough. Showing that you have other savings, own a home outright, other pension income, savings from your future spouse and their job history, etc.

Although no stated income requirement you are required to show that you have the finances to support your family without government support. If someone was limited to CPP, GIS,OAS, etc. without other sources of income it would be tough to show that they have the funds to support another person.
