Hello,

Can I sponsor my spouse from the Philippines if he was previously in jail? He served his time of 4 years.

last year. and has been working full time for a lumber company.
In that case sponsorship is not possible at this time because he is inadmissible to Canada. It wil be a number of years before it will be possible for him to apply to come to Canada.

You will have to wait another four years - until five years have passed since he was released from jail. Once this time passes, he will have to apply for rehabilitation and wait for the rehabilitation application to be approved. Processing can take anywhere from a few months to over a year. Once rehabilitation is approved, you will then be able to sponsor him.

the sponsorship would be maybe late next year. I am still saving up money.
No - not possible. It will be at least four years before you will be able to sponsor him - most likely longer.

What about the case where person was arrested for drug consumption in Dubai and deported out of country after prosecution dropped the charges? there was no conviction.
