I am confuse in the spouse sponsorship application if I have to say that my husband is living with me or not. He is here in Canada on a tourist visa, so yes he is living with me at the moment but because of his status he is not "living" here on paper... I'm so confuse cause I can't apply for spouse sponsorship if he's no living here I heard. In the 5533e question number 7.

When you say "not on paper" are you referring to him not being added on your lease or land title if you own your own home?

Yes exactly but also that technically he is not living here if he is a tourist.
But he is living somewhere, right? lol If you are renting, it is advisable to add him on your lease and submit a copy of such. For owning your own home, you could if you choose. I own a house and didn't add my husband (who I am sponsoring) on the title - whether this will decrease your chances or make your application questionable is unknown; not worrying at all about it. As a tourist, he can apply for a Photo ID card. In Ontario, all you need is a copy of your passport to obtain one which will give a provincial card showing your principal address. Another option is getting a provincial driver license if he has an international driver license but depending upon which country he is from, there might be other conditions he needs to meet first before obtaining one. regardless, there is some element of proof you need to show that your husband does in fact live at the same address as yourself.

Thank you for your help. We are in a particular situation, we've been traveling pretty much the last few year and we've been staying also in Costa Rica ( his home country) . We had a chance to go for a volunteering program in Nicaragua which had been cancelled, so we decided to come back here to Canada. We're staying with my parents. That's how he got his tourist visa cause my dad invited him to stay with us for a while. I have a job now here and we decided we wanted to stay here. Cause in the demand if we say no to living together there is the option of showing proof we've been visiting each other, does that work as well ?

Yes, he's living with you. He may be in the country on a tourist visa but if is he is living with you and intends on applying for PR, he's living with you.
