Hi there,

I am a little confused by the following requirement for the spousal sponsorship and hoping someone can help clarify.

Checklist point #7 asks for the following proofs:

One document from three of the following sets of options:

1 Joint ownership of residential property or joint residential leases ...
2 Proof of joint utilities account (electricity, gas, telephone)
3 Important document for you and your sponsor showing the same address
4 Important documents for you or your sponsor showing that you are recognized as each others spouse (such as employment or insurance benefits). Min 1 document
5 Documentary evidence of financial support between your sponsor and yourself.
6 Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends/family. (Ex. letters, social media information showing a public relationship etc)

I am sponsoring my wife (who lives in India and I married in Feb '17 and met for the first time about a year ago) and we don't current or have ever lived together. So point 1,2,3 above don't apply to me. So that leaves 4,5,6 that I need to provide a document for.

For #4 - I am providing screenshots of an online portal at work where I updated my marital status to Married and screenshot of CRA my account page showing married status. Is this okay? If not, what else can I provide?

For #5 - I am not sure what to provide here. Will my notice of assessment do here?

For #6 - Here I am providing public facebook posts, email, messages from family/friends congratulating us on the wedding.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can someone help out here?? I'm in the same boat.

#4 - doesn't apply - i have changed my marital status at my work. No place to put my spouse's name.
#5 - Spouse doesn't need financial support.
#6 - i have letters from family and friends.

Any evidence you could find, like calling logs, whatsapp/viber/skype logs to show that you have been in contact with your spouse.

Use an app like "Stick & Share" to take long screen shots.

I used a few emails between the inlaws and us congratulating us on our marriage. One email was from me responding to a invitation to an event and saying it was during the week of my wedding.
I also sent a copy of my updated life insurance naming my husband beneficiary.
I took pictures of Facebook page announcing our engagement and later the marriage. I then printed the pictures and included them in the evidence proof.
Travel itineraries and or boarding passes are good.
I changed my last name to take my husbands name so I sent pictures of my driver license and passport.
If you received greeting cards from friends for your wedding you can send copies of those. Original items sent will not be returned. Except MAYBE important do such as marriage license. Better verify before sending.
I printed credit card statements showing my use in Canada and his in the USA.
