Hi, I'm a Canadian trying to get my new wife who is in Hong Kong a Visa so we can start our lives together.
Unfortunately they sent everything to Manila for processing instead of Hong Kong which is apparently slower than Hong Kong by 5 months. :(

Is there a way to get them to do the processing in Hong Kong instead of Manila?
Will the recent government announcement about family reunification mean that they will speed up the processing in my case?

Thanks

Hi

What is your wife's nationality? CIC usually chooses the VO based on nationality, not residence.

There is little chance of the processing times speeding up anytime soon.

Thanks for responding.
That sucks that things won't speed up.

I don't get why it takes so damn long to get ones wife into Canada. Other countries are way faster.
A guy from Switzerland got married after I did and he already has had his wife with him for several months now.
Stupid that I'm spending my money on her in Hong Kong and planning to spend more money go there again just to see her.
I should be spending my money on her here in Canada.

Actually for me the news is great. It seems maybe they did speed up the process.
I was afraid it was going to take 14 months instead it took about 6 months.

Wife gave in her passport and is now waiting to get it back along with her Visa. :)
So I cancelled my planned trip and purchased a one way ticket to Canada for her instead.
Now I just need to wait for her to complete her job notice.

To me it should be really fast if all paper work is complete
1. agreed to spousal support
2. are married and provided proof
3. person is healthy
4. should be given visa

Canada really should have fiancé visa like they do in the USA to speed things up
