Spouse sponsorship provide martial status for children 16 years of age and older

Hi all,

My fiancé will be the person being sponsored and we are planning to get marry in Canada. He has never been married and has no child.

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm my understanding of the following requirement from CIC.

As a country specific requirement, the CIC asks

• If you hold a passport from this country, you and your family members included in the application must provide:
  • Proof of marital status for children 16 years of age and older.

My understanding if he does not need a proof of marital status (to proof him is single). We will be submitting our marriage certificate once we get married in Canada.

Not quite sure what you are asking. He has no kids, so that requirement is N/A.
