Hi,

This is Dina. My husband applied for me in June but due to the postal strike the immigration office got application in 2nd week of July. :(
According to the rule i heard i need to wait 18 moonths to complete all processing. Can anyone pls tell me why it takes too long time?

Is there any way to go there before this time. May i apply for tourist visa or student visa during this time?

I'm just newly married and miss my husband a lot. :(

Pls help me to give some advice.

are you applying inland or outland? The inland processing time is around 18 months which is included 2 steps. However, most people are luck to have it done around 10 months to 1 year. You can take a look at inland 2010 thread. If you're applying outland, then it all depends on your local office, some work fast but some don't. For your question, how come it takes so long...well, there are thousands apps every year and CIC do need to check every detail we provide, it takes time.

If you need a visa to come to Canada then I'm not sure if you can get it now. My hometown used to need visa for visiting Canada and some people tried to applied tourist visa after sending their app, however, they were refused and the officer told them it's because they're under the immigration process. You can still give it a try, maybe you'll get luck.

Some countries take a lot longer than others. There may not be enough visa officers working in that country's embassy, the country may require longer or more difficult background checks, etc.

You can apply for a tourist or student visa, but people who have a spouse in Canada are almost always denied such a visa. You have to prove you will leave Canada and go back to your country to get a temporary visa.

Even if your country's average processing time is 18 months, that does not mean your application will take that long. If your application had a lot of evidence that your relationship is genuine, and if there are no problems with your application, then you may well get your PR visa much more quickly than 18 months.
