My husband is a Canadian National. He has sponsored me..We both are living in Canada...I am on visa currently..Its been 10 months now...Applied for Permanent Residency on september 2013. Recieved a letter that my file has been transfereed to local office few months back.. I called CIC they checked and said my file is open but not in processing..what does it mean? CIC told me maximum 11 months time it takes...so 11 months are going to be complete...once my file comes in process what more time will take place...or my card will come directly..whats the procedure...i am already waiting from sept 2013...how long it can take more....

Is there anyway i can travel out from Canada without PR...or any visa system...need some help here..and information...thanksss

it's important to let us know if you applied inland or outland, and if outland which visa office it's been transferred to. the time line differs for each one. at this point, you are not out of processing time for most of the visa offices. There are some visa offices that are processing sept. applications, and there are some that applicants are still waiting. more information is needed to estimate what you can expect.

It sounds like you have applied inland and are waiting for first stage approval.

First stage approval is typically taking 11 months for most applicants now. However this is certainly not the maximum amount of time it can take. For some, it unfortunately takes quite a bit longer.

If your file has been transferred to the Etobicoke office without first stage approval (i.e. without AIP), this means that CIC has some concerns about your application and need to examine your file more closely. One cause for this delay can be that they want to ensure your relationship is genuine. If your file is now with the Etobicoke office, you can expect first stage approval will take longer than 11 months to complete.

As mentioned above, providing more details will help us to answer your question more effectively.

Thanks all for giving some info...

Hi..its inland sponsorship..my file has been moved to Missasauga office for further processing i got that letter.... I live in Missausage with my husband.

My question is when my file will come in process i applied in september 2013..i called CIC they said file is open but not in process and 11 months is waiting time what is meant by that? once the process starts how long it can take...

Not understanding the time period limit for processing and waiting..its confusing..if anybody can clarify that will be a great help...

Its Inland sponsorship by my husband...he is Canadaian and we both are living in Canada... Thanks
